Twisted Taco Gives Back: Great Food, Bigger Impact

Every taco has a story behind it, and some of those stories reach far beyond the plate. Twisted Taco gives back to the campuses and communities that have welcomed us since our first Midtown location opened in 2002. Today that means supporting student funds at Spelman College, Georgia Tech, and Emory University, plus three Atlanta and national charities we believe in as a company.

We wanted to lay it all out in one place so the students, families, and teams who eat with us know exactly where our support goes. Here is a look at the organizations we are proud to stand behind.

There is an old saying that charity begins at home. For a restaurant that has spent two decades inside college student centers, home is the campus. Our team members are often students themselves. Our regulars are the people walking between classes, grabbing lunch before a lab, or celebrating a win after a game.

When the people who feed you are part of your daily routine, it feels natural to support what matters to you. That is why our campus donations go directly to funds that students and their schools have built. The company-wide donations round things out by reaching families and animals across Atlanta and beyond.

Cantina Note: Our campus locations at Spelman, Georgia Tech, and Emory each have their own donation list, chosen to fit that school. The three company-wide charities are shared across every Twisted Taco.

Each of our Atlanta university locations supports funds specific to that school. Here is where the giving goes.

Spelman College

Once a Spelman girl, always a Spelman girl. We love that spirit, and our Spelman location supports three funds that keep it alive:

• Spelman Strong Fund , which helps the college respond to urgent student and campus needs
• General Scholarship Fund , which helps make a Spelman education possible for more students
• President Safety Net Fund , which supports students facing unexpected financial hardship

These funds reach students at the moments when a little help makes the biggest difference.

Campus Fact: Spelman College is one of the oldest historically Black colleges for women in the country, and its alumnae network is famously tight-knit. Supporting its scholarship and safety net funds is a way to invest in that legacy.

Georgia Tech

At Georgia Tech, our donation goes to the Alexander-Tharpe Fund, the fundraising arm of Georgia Tech Athletics. The fund supports Yellow Jacket student-athletes through scholarships, academic resources, and athletic facilities.

If you have ever grabbed a Twisted Taco before heading to a game, you have been part of a campus tradition that goes both ways. Great food, bigger impact.

Emory University

Our Emory location supports two funds that touch different sides of student life:

• Emory Athletics Fund for Excellence , supporting student-athletes and athletic programs
• Emory Campus Life Fund , enriching the student experience through programs, events, and opportunities

Together, these funds back both the Eagles on the field and the students building community everywhere else on campus.

Campus Fact: Emory’s Campus Life Fund supports the kind of programming that turns a university into a community, from student organizations to campus-wide events.

Beyond the campuses, three organizations receive support from Twisted Taco as a whole. Each one shows up on all of our Gives Back flyers because every location shares in them.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals works nationwide to protect animals from cruelty and neglect, and to connect pets with the people who will love them. Their motto says it well: animals and people are better together.

Close to home, the Atlanta Humane Society cares for thousands of pets each year through adoption, veterinary care, and community programs. Pets. People. Community. That is their focus, and it is one of the reasons we keep them on our list.

Make-A-Wish grants life-changing wishes for children facing critical illnesses. Hope changes everything, and we are glad to play a small part in bringing that hope to families who need it.

Cantina Note: Two of our three company-wide charities focus on animals, and the third focuses on children. That mix was not an accident. It reflects what our team cares about outside of work.

None of this happens without the people who choose us for lunch. Every burrito, every order of Twisted Nachos, every catering spread for a campus event helps fund the support we have described here. You do not have to do anything extra. You just have to keep showing up, and we will keep giving back.

From the Kitchen: Our team sees firsthand how far a scholarship, a safety net fund, or a granted wish can reach. Serving food is the job. Supporting the people we serve is the point.

What is the best way to support how Twisted Taco gives back?

The simplest way is to eat with us. Our donations are funded by the business, so every visit to a Twisted Taco location contributes. Catering orders for campus events are another great option, and they introduce more people to the restaurant at the same time. If you want to give directly, each of the funds and charities named above accepts donations through its own website.

Can my school or organization be added to the Twisted Taco Gives Back program?

Our campus donations currently support Spelman College, Georgia Tech, and Emory University, with each list tailored to that school. If you represent a student organization, athletic program, or campus department with a cause in mind, reach out to the manager at your nearest Twisted Taco. Requests are reviewed by our leadership team as the program grows.
